The Discipline of Witness

Updated: Mar 24, 2023

Matthew 5:16 - In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

1 Timothy 6:12 - Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

So let your light shine!

Being a witness is not only testifying to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is living in a way that affects those around you.

We are in the world but not of the world. We think differently, and react differently, our decisions have eternity in their calculations.

Is our faith contagious? Are our attitudes attractive?

What does it look like to Witness by letting our light shine?

Never let your circumstances control your attitude. Count it ALL joy!

Begin each day by asking God to make you a blessing to someone today. Then live your day looking to encourage, uplift and edify someone.

I remember when I was a little league coach. I would spend a little extra time teaching some of the less skilled kids and encouraging them. They would light up. Work twice as hard with smiles on their faces.

Has anyone ever given you too much change back when you made a purchase? Letting your light shine is letting them know.

Has anyone ever forgotten to bill you for something? They gain respect for your faith when you point that out.

The choice of adjectives we use can dim or brighten our light.

Be His witness. Get to know people. People don’t care what you know until they know you care. Ask them about them.

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
