Revelation 3:16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
The verse , strong in statement ! Think of this , Christ who bled and died, whipped with glass and hooks, beaten, crown of thorns shoved on his head, and forced to carry the instrument of his death … the Cross .
Saying your lack of zeal makes Him want to throw up!
Lukewarm .
Serving God and money. Wavering between two opinions. Making faith but religion. Keeping it up as in a duty. Being indifferent and being content with that. Unconcerned about the life and the power of Godliness. It is but a external form …no thoughts of the glory of God or
Interest of Christ and Truth. Loathsome and lazy in the things of Christ .
The Western church today is similar in ways with the church of Laodicea (which is no longer in existence by the way).
Have we lost our purpose? Not looking to our God given mission? Providing for ourselves and relying on our own righteousness, instead of total reliance on him? Following False gods?
Hot … is medically useful. Cold … soothing and refreshing.
What’s is the message to us?
Place faith in God, not our own works. Finding, and keeping our purpose to use our God-given skills gifts, talent, resources and relationships to expand God‘s kingdom.
An invitation to be useful refreshing and life-giving. Like cold water on a hot day or hot tea on a soar throat.
Let Jesus redeem you of you’re useless lukewarmness. Let God use us in ways we can’t even imagine. Weak enough to be strong in the Lord .
WAKE UP! We cannot tolerate sin. Allowing personal weaknesses to be used against us by a very persistent enemy.
STRENGTHEN what remains . Find out what embers remain and look to God to rekindle the flame to a roar.
REMEMBER the things you’ve received and heard. Delight in the lord, meditate as in
Psalms 1: 2-3 - but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
KEEP and OBEY Gods word know the truth and act on it! James 1: 22-25 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.
REPENT … confess and turn from sin.
Zealous For God consecrated to God (set apart as Holy to devote for sacred use).
I close with D.L .Moody “ The world has yet to see what God can do with a man fully consecrated to Him “
What a perfect way to finish up the 3:16 series
